20th October 2001 - Silverstone
By all accounts it rained this weekend. A couple of races had a
dry line although most had what can only be described as a river.
Even in the dry the paint used to mark the starting grid for the
F1 cars is pretty slippery but in the wet it's like riding on ice.
Well, that's what I gather form talking to people. I didn't make
it to the round as I was still injured and didn't fancy standing
around in the pouring rain.
The injuries are starting to heal okay. I lost the sling a while
back although my shoulder is still fairly sore and I've been doing
a bit of physio on my lower back so that is progressing well. Will
take a couple more months to get fully sorted but am much more like
my old self now.
Someone sent Mandy a picture taken through the fence near where
we crashed. No wonder I got a mouth full of gravel given how far
I bounced through the stuff - I'm the one the three marshalls are
running towards with my bike on the right of the picture. Mandy
is on the edge of the track and her bike a little below her. Rather
strange to think that somewhere along the line her bike hit me pretty
hard, especially given the distance between us at the end.
