1) Choosing The Bike How I went from using my road bike to do a few track days in 2000 through to deciding to buy a race bike. Shortly followed by the decision to sign up for a season of racing for 2001.
2) Getting Ready For The 2001 Race Season Trying to get organised with an ever increasing list of things I will need for the season. Here's the list and my progress in trying to get it all together.
3) Lydden Practice - 17th February Off to Lydden for some testing. Will the bike be in a fit state for the first round? More importantly will the rider?
4) Lydden Practice - 1st March Having fixed all the damage from the previous test day it's back to Lydden for some more testing.
5) Lydden Race - 3rd & 4th March Entry withdrawn due to injuries suffered during testing - See previous report for details. Roll on Brands Hatch!
6) Brands Hatch Race - 18th March Finally made it to the first race of the year. In at the deep end with entries in the Rookie & Clubman Championships!
7) Snetterton Track Day - 7th April An opportunity to get more track time with the bike and test my nerve on a track I've never seen before.
8) Snetterton Practice - 20th April Another attempt to get to grips with the circuit after the rather short introduction a couple of weeks ago.
9) Snetterton Race - 21st April More Rookie & Clubman action - The moment of truth now that the suspension has been properly sorted.
33) Brands Hatch Race - 11th August Entered races in the Rookie and Clubman Championships but didn't manage to finish the first Rookie race without incident. Looks like this might be the end of my racing for the 2001 season after braking my collar bone.
36) Mallory Park Track Day - 21st August Had to miss out on a fun day out with the Motorcycle Folly. No racing here just a nice day out with some friends. At least I've manage to get out of bed now ;-)
38) Snetterton Race - 8th September Mounting frustration at still being on the injured list. At least I can go along and cheer everyone else on. Added pictures and write up on the state of my bike and the repairs I'm going to have to do.
40) Donington Track Day - 4th October And another. At least I've made some progress with my injuries ;-) Added a few photos taken on the start line at my last race at Brands Hatch.
41) Silverstone Race Day - 20th October Injury update and a picture taken through the catch fencing of me lying on the ground as the marshall's do their usual excellent job of sorting us out.
42) Brands Hatch Race Day - 27th October Went along to see how everyone got on in the last race. Took a few pictures of the prize giving for the top four Rookie 600 racers.
