February 2002
Collected my bike from Cambridge
Motorcycles after Spike had had the chance to work some of his
magic on it. Worked out fairly expensive but at least I know the
condition of the bike (down to the finest detail) and know exactly
what else I need to get hold of before the season starts. Or in
some cases before I go to Nogaro for some testing next weekend!
Whilst they had the bike it was stuck on the dyno to get an idea
what the power curve looked like. Looks like a pretty good curve,
especially given the crap weather which plays havoc with the air
pressure. Spike has the same model bike himself and reckons the
curve on the left looks pretty much the same as his bike. The one
on the right is a comparison with the CBR600 I raced last year,
although the curve is adjusted to make sure we are comparing like
with like given the different weather conditions, etc.
Despite expecting them to be rather different I was actually quite
surprised at how similar the two curves are. Guess I should have
been a fair bit quicker on the 600 than I actually was!

RSV-R vs. CBR600

Despite not having managed to sell my CBR600 I am getting on quite
well compiling the list of things I need for the season. Still have
to acquire a few things, including:
- Paddock Stands
- Spare Levers
- Different Sprockets
- Clip Ons & Rear Sets (maybe?)
All I need to do now is learn how to ride the thing!
