13th May 2004 - Mallory Park
The first visit of the year to Mallory Park is always a sociable occasion. It's the first time when all the regulars, including those with noisy exhausts, can get together. The weather is invariably sunny and most people usually ride quite sensibly so we have fewer stoppages and more track time. The track started off a little damp but soon dried out and we even saw the sun during the afternoon.
Bizarrely nothing major to report other than a guy on a nice MV Agusta F4 managed to highside out of Edwina's Corner. He managed to scrape or dent every major panel, brake and clutch master cylinders, both wheel, mirrors, foot pegs, tank and, er, not sure there was much he didn't trash to be honest. Oh well, at least he has a really nice project bike to work on!
Although instructing is very rewarding it is nice to be able to have a blast in the advanced group with a few friends of similar pace. I really miss the days when I was the same level as many of the regulars as there really aren't too many people left to play with, especially as my paltry 68 hp means I have to work for any positions I might get. |
