7th June 2004 - Cadwell Park
Needless to say I didn't make it to the Brands GP meeting as I was finding it difficult to move yet along get on a bike. The whole of the lower part of my right leg was numb and it turned out I had bashed one of the major nerves hard enough to damage it. More worryingly it later turned out that the impact had actually broken the top of my fibula that sits just behind the nerve. Ouch!
By the time the Motorcycle Folly day at Cadwell rolled around I was fit enough to drive my van, well, not sure fit enough is the right word but I managed to get up there thanks to some good pain killers. I hadn't even been able to look at the damage to the bike yet so there was no chance of me riding but as Chief Instructor I needed to be there.
It was a nice sunny day so I didn't mind too much and I was still able to help people out with advice on lines, body positioning, etc. I quite like Cadwell and any opportunity to get on a bike should be taken up but as I was still having trouble walking too far I wasn't as upset as I would have been had I been fully fit. |
